You can now rent expensive designer wedding dresses for as little as £15 for your big day

BUYING a dress is arguably one of the most expensive parts of a wedding, and probably the priciest frock you’ll ever own.

But now brides-to-be can save themselves a pretty penny by renting gowns instead - from as little at £15 a day.

An app has been created which lets women hire designer dresses for a fraction of the cost of buying them.

By Rotation, which describes itself as a 'fashion rental platform', has a pretty impressive selection of white dresses perfect for a wedding

Big names such as Carolina Herrera, Victoria Beckham, Atelier Colpani, Jacquemus, and Kate Midddleton’s favourite, Jenny Packham, are all available on the app.

Prices start from around £15-a-day and go up to £1,000, so there’s something for every budget.

Eshita Kabra-Davies, founder of , told : "We have seen an increasing number of brides-to-be sign up on the app and make enquiries for their big day.

"It's pretty common for the groom to rent his tux, but renting a wedding dress seems to be more unconventional even though it would be the perfect something borrowed."

Some dresses have a minimum rental period, such as two days, and there’s also the option to hire a frock for a week.

One former bride, hiring out her Atelier Colpani dress which originally cost £3,000, said: “This dress has been hanging in my wardrobe for nearly two years.

“While I hold sentimental value towards my dress and love it, I'd love to rent it out for someone to have the opportunity to feel the same way on their special day.”

Explaining how the system works, the app says once you sign up you can list an item with photos and information, then people can request to hire your clothes.
