STASH OF CASH

Single mum breaks down in tears after finding kind note and envelope stuffed with cash hidden inside her second-hand car

WHEN a single mum sought out a second-hand car she was brought to tears after discovering a heartwarming surprise that was left for her inside.

After driving away in her Subaru Outback, which she'd bought privately, Jen Willis from Melbourne, Australia pulled down the sun visor to discover an envelope stuffed with cash that had fallen onto her lap.

Shocked by the discovery, Jen initially thought the previous owner had forgotten the stash of cash.

But after reading the heartwarming note which was described as a "random act of kindness", she realised it was actually a gift for her.

The note read: "This is a random act of kindness. Please use to spoil your family in a way that makes you happy.

“Just felt it on my heart to do for you, in what sounded like a challenging time for you.”

Blown away by the selfless act, Jen felt the need to share the gesture online on the  Facebook group, admitting she "teared up instantly" upon realising it was left for her.

She wrote: "Such a beautiful random act of kindness that I was gifted today!

"With only one adult now in our household here in Daylesford, I did a two for one with our cars and sold our Prado and Suzuki Swift to a dealer and bought a Subaru Outback privately and when I pulled down the sun visor as I went to drive my new car home, this fell into my lap.

"Needless to say, I teared up instantly with this incredible thoughtfulness!"

The envelope contained three $50 notes - quivalent to about £80 - which was very much welcomed after having recently split with her husband who was moving back to the US.

Jen felt a sense of relief having stumbled across this particular car, telling that she was looking for “that exact car, a used Subaru Outback but with all the safety features”.

I teared up instantly with this incredible thoughtfulness.

The previous car owner whom she bought the car from was "a lovely guy in his 60s" and "a very genuine person".

The letter was written by him and his wife after hearing about her circumstances.

She explained: “I now only needed one car for my boys and I, and because I also have MS (multiple sclerosis), I also wanted one that was going to be easy to drive as well as I can get quite tired driving.

“I also shared that our little boy had not been well – we thought it may have been quite serious, but thankfully it’s not, and that I also worked full-time, and so was under a lot of pressure and so having the car part of working out my new life was just such a relief.”

Describing the moment she discovered the note, she said: "When I turned it over and read the beautiful message and realised it was a gift for me, I was overwhelmed, and of course started to cry a little!”
