Social media star Saffron Barker on her celebrity crush and what positives may come from lockdown
SAFFRON Barker, 19, shot to fame as a YouTuber and became the first female social media star to appear on Strictly Come Dancing in 2019.
She reveals her greatest fear, celebrity crush and what positives may come from lockdown.
What scares you?
Spiders and dying. When I was younger I couldn’t get to sleep for hours because I was so scared of dying in my sleep.
What is your favourite word?
Unreal.
What is your worst habit?
I bite my nails. It’s not good, especially at the moment when I can’t get my acrylics done.
Who would you invite to a dinner party?
Princess Diana. I’d like to know what really went on with her and I love the royal family. I’d also invite Bob Marley, Billie Eilish and Kevin Hart.
Who makes you laugh the most?
My dad Darren [business owner and star of some of Saffron’s videos]. Though it’s not with him, it’s at him!
What makes you angry?
People who aren’t loyal.
What positives will come out of lockdown?
Self-care. I’ve managed to spend more time on myself and I don’t usually have that because I’m here, there and everywhere.
What is your experience of grief?
When I was growing up, my parents [Wendy, who also appears in Saffron’s videos] used to look after people with learning difficulties in our home. We had three people who lived with us: Francis, Pearl and Florence. They were like grandparents to me and I lost them all in around 2010.
If you could travel back in time where would you go?
I’d go back to when I was doing Strictly because I loved it so much. I know I’ll never get the opportunity to do it again.
What’s the worst pain you’ve felt?
About two weeks ago I dropped a six-wick concrete candle holder on my toe and broke it. I cried for 12 hours.
How often do you have sex?
Not that much unfortunately. I don’t have anyone!
All-time favourite movie?
Either Pretty Woman or The Amazing Spider-Man.
What is top of your bucket list?
I want to go to the Maldives and go skydiving and shark-cage diving.
What song would you have played at your funeral?
A Change Is Gonna Come by Sam Cooke.
What is your biggest achievement?
Running the London Marathon for Dementia Revolution last year. The charity means a lot to me and my family as my grandad had the disease.
How do you relax?
With a good skincare routine, a bath, loungewear and Netflix.
Who is your celebrity crush?
Zac Efron or Michael B Jordan. Yes please!
What do you never leave the house without?
Lipliner, lipgloss, my phone and camera.
What are your best and worst qualities?
I’m quite thoughtful, generous and kind. My worst? Forgetful, messy and clumsy.
Most famous person on your phone?
