I’m a key worker & I’ve been meeting people for sex during lockdown- I need it & I don’t care what others think

A KEY WORKER has revealed she's been breaking lockdown to meet people for sex because she "can't live without it".

Monica Holmes, 34, works as a disabled carer in Harrogate and has been meeting her businessman lover twice a week for sex since lockdown began.

In March, the government banned couples who weren't living in the same household from seeing each other in their efforts to stop the spread of coronavirus.

Despite the fact that she was putting herself and the vulnerable people she works with at risk, Monica continued to meet up with her lover - who she'd met four months before.

After almost three months of lockdown, Boris Johnson has only just permitted couples who live alone in separate households to spend the night together.

In an attempt to justify her decision to break the lockdown, Monica said: "I’m a very sexual person and l couldn’t live without sex!"

"I need the physical release for my mental wellbeing. It’s a brilliant stress reliever and, given everything which is going on in the world, we need it more than ever.

“It’s so ridiculous to think anyone could be arrested or fined for following our basic human instincts and needs. Just try and arrest me!"

What's more, the couple have been alternating between their separate homes and don't care who sees them.

"I don’t care what my neighbours think, they don’t know me so they can’t judge or bad mouth me," she said. "While they’ll be some people who say what I’m doing is wrong, there’s also a lot of people who agree with me and are doing the same."

Reflecting on why flouted the lockdown, Monica argued that she never stood a chance because it only made her want to have sex MORE.

Arguing that it was "inhumane" of the government to deprive people of sex, she said: "We are not naughty school children and the more you forbid something, the more people will want to do it."

As a keen gym-goer, Monica added: "I am not worried about getting Covid 19 because I’m so healthy I don’t think it would even affect me.

"I work out at the gym a lot and look after myself. This is why I’m so sexually active.

"Healthy people have much more sex than people who don’t look after themselves."

But if she did start to feel unwell, Monica takes comfort in the fact that she can get a coronavirus test anytime as a key-worker.

"I did a test a few weeks ago and it was negative," she added.

The key worker has no remorse about breaking lockdown and thinks it's all "just nonsense".

“How can people from different households not date or have sex, yet tens of thousands of people can gather for a mass protest in London? It just doesn’t add up," she said. "No one is going to stop me living my life and enjoying myself and other people should do the same."

In England, households that contain just one person, or one person with any number of kids under the age of 18, are able to create an exclusive ''support bubble'' with one other household.

You can already meet groups of up to six people from different households at a time if you're outside and are able to spend time in gardens, parks and other private outdoor spaces such as gardens or roof terraces.

However, Monica is backing a new campaign started by relationship expert Louise Van Der Velde to allow people outside of high risk groups to create to "sex bubbles" so they can sleep with whoever they like during the pandemic.

Louise - who runs free masterclasses helping couples to have more fulfilled love lives - is launching a legal challenge in the High Court in London against the lockdown.

She said: “We need to end the sex ban for anyone outside of high risk groups.

“Millions of young people who risk no more than a bout of flu from the virus are having their lives wrecked by these rules.

“I am mounting a legal challenge in the High Court to free us all from these draconian restrictions which make no sense at all.”

Real estate broker Richard Ashby, 38, from Cambridge, has also had sex with "plenty" of women during lockdown and is backing Louise's campaign.

He said: "To be honest, I totally ignored lockdown from the start and travelled hundreds of miles to meet friends, just to break the horrifying routine of forced imprisonment.

“And after the government’s laughable attempt to ban sex, I headed over to a friend’s place to do exactly that.

"There are plenty of people I have met for sex during lockdown. It's a lifestyle choice."

However, Boris Johnston is urging Brits to stick to the government's roadmap out of lockdown to avoid a second wave of coronavirus.

As the new relaxed rules were announced last week, England’s deputy chief medical officer, Jenny Harries, emphasised the need for people to remain on their guard.

She said: “This is a really, really critical time."

England’s deputy chief medical officer Jonathan Van-Tam urged people must not “tear the pants” out of the tweaked guidelines.
