Meghan Markle and Prince Harry ‘wished Prince Philip happy birthday in private Zoom call’ shunning public Instagram post
PRINCE Philip celebrated his 99th birthday yesterday with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry wishing him via a private Zoom chat with Archie, an expert claims.
But unlike the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and other members of the royal family, Harry, 35, and Meghan, 38, decided not to post a public tribute on Instagram to mark the occasion.
Taking to , Carolyn Durand, who contributes to Oprah Magazine, wrote: "A Source close to the #DukeandDuchessofSussex confirm that #PrinceHarry and Meghan with Archie will speak to The Duke of Edinburgh #PrincePhilip today to wish him a happy 99th birthday."
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex made the call from their LA home where they currently live with their one-year-old son Archie.
It's believed they're staying at producer Tyler Perry’s swanky £15million Tuscan-style villa where they have been working with various charities via Zoom.
Last month Harry And Meghan shocked a group of mental health charity workers by crashing their staff video meeting, which was the couple’s first joint appearance since moving into the plush LA mansion,
The pair also celebrated Archie's first birthday last month and released a sweet video to mark the occasion.
When the couple stepped down as senior members of the royal family earlier this year they were forced to abandon their official Instagram account and Sussex Royal title
They shared their last public post on March 30 thanking the online community for their support before officially going offline.
They have since relied heavily on video messages and Zoom chats to communicate with Harry's family in the UK as well as continuing thier work with various charites.
Prince William, 37, and Kate Middleton however took to social media with a tribute to mark the birthday of Prince Philip with Prince Charles, the Duchess of Cornwall and Princess Eugenie also sharing some snaps of the Duke of Edinburgh to celebrate.
Among the sweet snaps shared online was a candid shot of Prince William with his grandfather sharing a joke at the Rugby World Cup in 2015.
There was also photo of a young Prince Charles riding on a motorboat with his father on the Isle of Wight in 1957 and another of them sharing a laugh.
The Duke of Edinburgh's granddaughter Princess Eugenie shared a sweet birthday message to her "grandpa" alongside a wedding photo with her grandparents the Queen and Prince Philip.
She said: "A very Happy 99th Birthday to HRH The Duke of Edinburgh.
Grandpa, we wish you a special day.. and may all grandparents celebrating birthdays in lockdown have a wonderful time."
The Duke of Edinburgh is said to have a “quiet glow of pride” about hitting the milestone, and enjoyed the festivities with the Queen, 94, at Windsor Castle, where they are self-isolating.
It's believed that they enjoyed a quite lunch while chatting with their grandchildren via Zoom, which the pair have become quite good at.
