SINCE we went into lockdown, it's been almost impossible to find face masks in the shops - and the ones available online can cost a small fortune.

That said, B&M is now selling reusable masks for just £2.50 each - and they're bound to make our supermarket shops a lot less stressful.

The one-size-fits-all mask is made out of polyester and spandex to ensure it fits tightly around your nose and mouth.

But while most masks can only be worn once, B&M's offering can be used time and time again as long as you wash it in hot soapy water.

Although masks won't stop someone from contracting coronavirus, the barrier reduces the risk of inhaling any droplets passed on through sneezes or speech.

What's more, face masks also reduces the risk of wearers passing on their germs to others.

Do face masks protect against coronavirus?

  • They are far less effective if not worn and fitted properly as they will not be able to form a seal and filtration
  • If you buy or make your own cloth mask they can be reused if you wash it thoroughly at over 60C
  • The general rule is to wear a face mask when you are out in public, in areas that could involve coming into contact with other people, like public transport, exercising in urban areas, popping to the shops or walking the dog.

Unlike FFP3 or N93 medical masks, this B&M product doesn't have a built-in filter.

But it does offer protection when popping to the supermarket or going for your one walk a day under the current UK guidelines.
