Why picking white sheets is the one thing you should do to make your bedroom feel more expensive
WE'RE all spending a lot more time at home at the moment - and are increasingly turning our attentions to improving our interiors.
But if you're on a budget you needn't miss out, with an expert helpfully revealing the simple low-cost tweak that will make your bedroom feel instantly more expensive.
Turns out, swapping coloured or patterned sheets for plain white ones will give the space you sleep in an immediate luxury boost.
According to a design expert, this is because they recreate the cleanliness and newness of five-star hotel sheets that almost always use all-white bedding.
"Visually, the idea of the white bed is important," said Erin Hoover, former vice president of design for Westin and Sheraton, previously to .
"Something about an all-white bed connotes luxury and a good night's sleep."
The high-end hotel chain Westin pioneered the idea of all-white sheets for hotel suites in the 1990s when coloured sheets were chosen because they obscured dirt better - and now the former are the norm.
She added: "The all-white bed created this halo effect -- people thought a room had been renovated, even if it was just the bed that had been changed. It had a huge impact."
It comes after Stacey Solomon revealed exactly how she makes her pristine bed in the morning.
