Mums are buying £25 reusable fabric toilet paper as supplies dwindle during coronavirus panic
HEAD to your local supermarket and you are likely to find empty shelves in the toilet roll aisle as shoppers stockpile amid the coronavirus panic.
And not wanting to be caught short Australian mums are snapping up reusable fabric rolls that come in at £25 a pop.
Maker Eloise Marsh posted to the For the Love of Australian Handmade Facebook group her unique solution to the toilet paper crisis gripping the nation in the wake of the spread of coronavirus.
"Introducing washable/reusable non-toilet paper!" she wrote.
"Just to get you by (you could ration your toilet paper and just use this for number ones, leaving your precious toilet paper for number twos) or you could save a bunch of money on toilet paper by using this all the time!"
Each roll is made of 12 squares of pretty printed material with a terry towelling backing that can be wound around your toilet holder.
Eloise told Kidspot she started her small business as a "little hobby" after the birth of her child. She's had a surprising amount of interest in her non-toilet paper and she hopes it might help the environment long term.
Not surprisingly, her post attracted lots of attention.
"No different from cloth nappies. Innovative, well done," one person commented.
"I like the invention. People would buy this," wrote another.
"This is the solution," wrote another.
