Mum shares homemade ‘Kinder Egg’ hack using toys her kids already own – and is labelled a ‘queen’ for the crafty move
ANY mum can understand being pressurised into buying a new toy for their child, only for it to be forgotten about hours later when they move onto their next new favourite.
And then there's the sweet treats that make their way into the house and the clutches of hungry little children.
But one thrifty mum came up with a genius solution to solve both parent problems and other mums can't believe they hadn't thought of it sooner.
Sarah Manning, from Portsmouth, shared her homemade "Kinder Egg" hack with community via their private
The mum-of-two revealed that rather than wasting money on the chocolate egg - which sell for a minimum of 50p a pop - and pointless toys, she decided to reuse the empties to create her own version of the surprise treat.
In place of the chocolate, Sarah includes toddler-friendly treats such as raisins and jellybeans, and also adds a small plastic toy which her kids - aged two and three - already own - isn't that brilliant?
In her post, Sarah revealed that her two kids have so many "little bits and pieces they forget about" and that reusing existing toys makes them more interested in the ones they'd forgotten.
Proving popular with the rest of the mum community, the post racked up more than 1,800 comments and likes with many wondering how they hadn't thought of the hack sooner.
One mum even pointed out that the genius tip was better for the environment - adding more value to the toddler-friendly idea.
Another person said: "Pretty sure you’ve reached top level parenting here, friend!"
And with Easter just around the corner, we think this is a brilliant way to use up all the wasted packaging that comes with many sweet treats - and the kids wouldn't even know the difference.
