Woman gives her boring kitchen a chic update using wood from B&Q and a cheap Argos nail gun
A HANDS-ON homeowner has proved that a stunning kitchen makeover doesn't have to cost the Earth.
Lisa Wood wanted to revamp her kitchen - and managed to do it all herself for less than £150.
When quotes for shaker-style cupboard doors were coming in too expensive, Lisa decided to take matters into her own hands, using B&Q wood and an Argos nail gun.
Lisa started with some MDF (medium-density fibreboard) which she purchased for just £13 from DIY superstore B&Q.
She purchased a 4mm-thick large sheet - but was able to get it cut into 7cm-wide strips for free.
The next step in Lisa's kitchen project was to nail the sheets in place, which she did an £18 nail gun from Argos that came with 2,000 nails.
According to Lisa, after, there was just some light sanding required - before painting her newly revamped cupboards with her choice of Frenchic City Slicker paint.
Posting amazing before and after photos of the renovation project on Facebook, it seems that Lisa wasn't the only one who was impressed with her DIY skills.
More than 10,000 Facebook users liked her post, which attracted 2,000 comments as other savvy shoppers begged to know exactly how she had transformed the room.
The tiles were also painted in Frenchic Dazzle Me - the brand sells its paints in a 150ml size (£6.95) and a 750ml tin (£17.95).
Lisa managed to source some retro copper handles from eBay - with a pack of 20 costing just £12.
And the final stage was adding £8 under-cabinet LED strip lights from IKEA.
The worktop itself cost £55 - also from IKEA - but overall, this DIY job cost under £150.
Lisa isn't the only one who managed to transformed her home on a budget.
