Bride threatens to cancel wedding after Don’t Tell The Bride groom dresses bridesmaids ‘like elves’ and buys £150 gown
WHILE hit TV show Don't Tell The Bride is always certain to deliver a furious bride - they might have found their angriest yet.
In tonight's episode of the popular E4 series Anna, 30, almost calls off her wedding to Andy, 30, after he dresses her bridesmaids "like elves" and spends just £150 on her bridal gown.
This evening's instalment sees the besotted groom-to-be try to organise a big day in just three weeks that is inspired by his future wife's native country, Ukraine.
However, unbeknown to Andy, his betrothed - who he lives with on Jersey -and her equally-picky mum, are desperate for a traditional British country affair.
He also fails to allocate enough of the £13,000 budget to her white dress - and the £150 number he chooses arrives falling apart with beads pinging off, and reduces Anna to tears.
Speaking to the camera, the bride-to-be - who is convinced it is actually a fancy dress outfit that cost just £5 from eBay - sobs: "I just can't wear it. I'm going to take it off.
"I don't think the person who made that dress, likes that dress.
"I just want to ask him why. I feel like he hates me right now. I feel like I don't want to marry him which is devastating. How could he do that to me?"
While Andy works hard to create the nuptials he thinks Anna will want, her ideal celebration is actually very different.
"My dream wedding would be a very British manor house with nice grounds around it," she explains.
"It's just something that would make me feel special on my wedding day."
However, Andy wants to make a significant nod to his wife's background, and organises their big day abroad in Ukraine - something he also thinks his future mum-in-law will also be delighted by.
He reveals: "I'm a traditional guy. I'm going to throw a traditional wedding...in Ukraine.
"I want to do a traditional Ukrainian wedding. I want traditional Ukrainian dancers, food - they eat chicken belly buttons and stuff."
Andy, who can't speak the country's language, starts off by finding traditional Ukrainian dresses for bridesmaids Liza and Mel.
However, they're less than overjoyed when presented with their outfits.
One says: "I would prefer something a bit more bridesmaidy. It looks like a big tablecloth."
Another admits that she feels like an "elf".
Despite a generous budget, Andy also runs out of funds to fly all the family out to watch them walk down the aisle after shelling out too much on his stag do, which involves dolphin-spotting.
In contrast, the 15-person hen do takes place in their local snooker hall where he's put just £100 behind the bar for them.
A devastated Anna notes: "Oh my god. No matter what I say, my face says it all. The morale is quite low."
Speaking to the attendees, she announces: "Girls if anyone wants to go home, I'm absolutely fine with you going home. I just feel awful. I think they all know how I'm feeling without me saying a word."
Despite her initial devastation at the hen do, bridesmaids dresses, bridal gown and location, she comes round in the end.
She says: "This isn't the British manor house I wanted, but when I see all my family here it digs deep. It's very emotional.
"He's touched a very deep and special place in my heart by doing this.'
Don't Tell The Bride airs on Monday 24th February at 7.30pm on E4
