Bride-to-be moans she’s ‘stressed’ because her 11-year-old flower girl is 12st and looks too ‘big’ in her dress
A BRIDE has sparked a debate online after claiming she is “stressed” over her flower girl's size in a Facebook rant.
The anonymous woman took to the group Weddings, Brides, Dresses And More where she asked for advice after fretting over what to put her “big” stepdaughter in.
She wrote: “Hi gals I have a major issue here, my fiance’s daughter is eleven and is a flower girl at our wedding.
“She’s 12 stone, which is an issue in itself, but my other bridesmaids are wearing tulle skirts and I’ve no idea what to put her in.
“She’s going to look big in no matter what I put her in.”
She continued to say that she and her fiancé have since tried to encourage her to slim down, but her partner’s ex was not happy about it.
She added: “My fiancé is trying to control her eating but mum’s not supporting us, any ideas? It’s stressing me.”
Her post prompted an overwhelmingly negative response, with many describing the bride-to-be as “disgusting” and going on to share her post in a wedding shaming group.
“How freaking awful. What a disgusting bride” said one, with a second agreeing, “Body shaming a flower girl? Screw this!”
A third wrote: “Put her in a nice dress and tell her she looks beautiful. Why are you so concerned how heavy she will look?
“She’s a child. Let her enjoy herself and have wonderful memories of the day she is a flower girl.”
Meanwhile another mum acknowledged that while she was overweight, there were better times to approach the subject.
She commented: “Hate this. The kid is probably already aware. Do NOT do or say anything about her weight or treat her any different ffs.
“Yes she’s unhealthily overweight for her age but now is not the time.”
However, one woman admitted that she would have been grateful for the bride’s behaviour.
She wrote: “If I was large and going to be in a wedding with a mandated outfit, I can only hope that the person picking it would be concerned with what they picked making me look big. I would be so appreciative.”
