Royal fans spot Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s plug for Global Positive News Network is actually ad for online shop

MEGHAN Markle and Prince Harry have left fans baffled after they featured an advert for a positive news outlet's online shop on their official Instagram page.

Earlier this week, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex chose Global Positive News Network as their "inspiring"; Instagram account of the month.

The couple shared a montage of photos from the network's Instagram account to promote "acts of kindness and uplifting stories of community across the globe."

Within in the selection of nine images, royal fan Twitter account GertRoyals noticed that one picture was taken from the network's online shop.

The image in the bottom left corner was used by the positive news outlet to promote their t-shirts to promote their Cyber Monday sale last year.

In the picture, the model is wearing one of their £17 "Change the World with Kindess" t-shirts and kneeling down next to a husky.

After spotting the oversight, the royal fan account wrote: "How closely did they look at the posts when they picked the photos?

"Because this photo is just a Cyber Monday ad for 20 per cent off items in Global News's shop."

In response, another follower wrote: "Not liking that it's a company, not a charity. Yes, they're not working royals yadda yadda but seems cringey to me."

"If they had just highlighted the positive news that the company shares, that would be one thing. But to highlight the company's product is another."

Global Positive News Network - which was set up by San Francisco entrepreneur Kristi Carter - describes itself as the "most heartwarming page on Instagram" and claims it's a "trustworthy news resource that focuses on the positives in life rather than the negatives."

On its website, the brand asserts that 10 per cent of their net profit from their T-shirts, hoodies and hats go to charity but doesn't name which one.

Last month, Harry and Meghan followed the Good News Movement on Instagram - just days before they announced they were "stepping back" as senior members of the Royal Family.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s Instagram page is now the most followed royal account, having overtaken over from Prince William and Kate Middleton. 

The SussexRoyal page currently has 11,185,657 followers, with the KensingtonRoyal account lagging just behind with 11,144,8083.

In more Royal Family news, Prince William has been leaning on "influential force" Carole Middleton who sees as a "second mum" after Megxit.
