The Queen once told off a young Princess Eugenie for standing on her foot in resurfaced footage

SHE GETS on well with Princess Eugenie now, but the Queen once scolded her young granddaughter for standing on her foot.

The monarch can be seen in pain while gently telling off the toddler daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah, Duchess of York in unearthed footage.

In BBC documentary 'Elizabeth R: A Year in the Life of the Queen', broadcast in 1992, Her Majesty is surrounded by several of her grandchildren in the grounds of Balmoral Castle.

The Queen, then 66, is shown spending quality time with Prince William, Prince Harry, Zara Phillips, Princess Beatrice - as well as Eugenie - as they take horses trekking around the estate.

Having helped sister Beatrice, then four, mount a pony, she suddenly calls out "ouch".

She then added: "It is my foot you are standing on!”

The camera pans down to Eugenie who appeared to have wandered onto her famous grandmother.

However, all was quickly forgiven as the Queen took the little girl's hand and said: "Now shall we go that way?"

William, then ten, can be seen leading his cousin Beatrice's pony.

His brother Harry, then eight, and another of their cousins Zara, then eleven, ride ahead on two other horses.

The documentary also sees the Queen, now 93, reveal how much her grandchildren enjoy the Scottish royal residence.

She said: “There a certain fascination in keeping the place as Queen Victoria had it.

“Nothing very much has changed.

“Luckily all the children, all the grandchildren like it.

“They sensed their freedom there too.

“One could go to miles and not see anybody.

“It is endless possibilities and we like picnics and open air.”
