Disney-mad bride spends $35k on themed wedding including cakes, balloons and decor after groom proposes at Disneyworld
A DISNEY-mad bride spent $35,000 on a themed wedding with her cake, balloons and décor all inspired by her favourite characters.
Kristen Wright, 30, from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, tied the knot with Kenan Fitzpatrick, also 30, in a magical Disney-themed ceremony.
The couple, who met last January, got engaged after Kenan, a data analyst, got down on one knee at Disneyworld – while the pair were in fancy dress.
She gushed: “I had a feeling that he would propose at Disney because he knew that was something I wanted as a little girl.
“I just didn’t know when. I was completely surprised when during the party in front of the castle while dressed as Prince Charming and Cinderella he proposed to me with a pillow made of a flower.
“On top of the flower was a glass slipper and tiara. He had said that his heart was like the glass slipper and I was the only one who could fill it. It was better than any proposal I could have ever dreamed of.”
Kristen, a nurse practitioner, set about planning a magical ceremony, fitting in as many Disney references as she could.
Kristen, who’s visited Disneyland 18 times, took inspiration from Up, Mickey Mouse and Lady and the Tramp – while she threw in a few Star Wars references for Kenan.
The couple exchanged vows at Sunny Isles Beach, Florida, in front of 60 guests in October, with every last detail given a Disney twist.
Kristen and Kenan had a budget of $35,000, and they splashed $13,000 on the ceremony, $10,000 on flowers, $5,000 on a photographer, $1,500 on a DJ and the same amount on the wedding dress.
They also forked out $1,500 for a wedding planners, $2,000 on decorations and a further $1,000 on favours.
The couple also threw a Lady and the Tramp-themed rehearsal dinner at an Italian restaurant.
Kristen explained how she had different Disney ‘looks’, to try and incorporate as many films as possible.
She said: “Our first look was Up themed. I came out with Mickey shaped balloons. Tied to the bottom of the balloons was an Up themed box with a grape soda pin.
“On the back of the pin it stated, ‘K&K 10/19/19’. I pinned the pin on him for the ceremony.
“For the ceremony I had aisle signs with Disney love quotes as you walked down the aisle along with an aisle runner that had Lady and the Tramp on it. Kenan and the groomsman walked out to Some Day My Prince Will Come.
“My bridesmaids walked out to Can You Feel The Love Tonight by Elton John. I walked down to At Last I See The Light from Tangled.
“We did have a sand ceremony to which we poured sand into a Cinderella and Prince Charming sand ceremony box.
“Our Cocktail hour was Alice in Wonderland themed. For the reception, all of our bridal party came out to different Disney songs with props.
“The last song of the night was Happily Ever After from the Magic Kingdom fireworks.”
The couple also surprised guests by learning a dance from Beauty and the Beast.
Kristen said: “We worked really hard for weeks with a dance instructor on this.
“To see it come to life was great. We also had a rose petal drop during the song that made it a special moment.
“We had a Tangled themed bar called the ‘Snugly Duckling’. All of our guests had Disney fast passes as their place cards matching the movie table. Each table was themed to a different movie and had a different name.
“Each table also had Disney celebration buttons along with a Disney programme. Inside the programme had our love story, the dinner menu, and a special message from the bride and groom.
"The programme was one of my favourite things along with our dance.”
Kenan was over the moon with the ceremony, with his new wife saying: “Kenan loved the wedding. He was happy with how it came out we both had a lot of fun. It was nice seeing our vision come to life.
“I included Star Wars in our wedding and made sure to include it in our honeymoon.”
The couple went on a Disney-themed cruise for their honeymoon, followed by four days at Dinseyland, calling it “magical”.
Kristen praised her new husband, saying: “He is my own real-life prince charming. I can’t believe how lucky I was to find him.
“I felt this instant connection with him. I just felt complete when he would hold me. I’ve never met anyone more loving and supportive than Kenan.
“He goes to Disney with me whenever we can afford too. He put in his vows that he will go as many times as we can.
“He allowed me to include as much Disney as I want in our wedding and our home. Whenever I want to watch a Disney movie, he will watch it with me.
“He even pre-ordered Disney Plus for me as a surprise because he knew I would want it.”
Kristen said she’s received a lot of praise for her wedding with people asking her where she bought certain items.
She added: “I’m happy now that I get to share my ideas and help other brides make their dream weddings come to life.”
And this bride was mocked for having a 'tail' due to the awkward placement of her bustle.
Meanwhile this groom shamed the eight men his wife has cheated with during their wedding reception.
Plus this bride was slammed for wearing a see-through wedding dressthat shows off her "diaper" knickers.
