Rachel Hartley from Manchester decided it was time to change her kitchen from a gaudy red to a sleek silver look that even Mrs Hinch would be proud of.

She told The Sun her motivation behind her new kitchen: "I wanted to change my kitchen but couldn't afford to buy a new one.

And she managed to achieve the stunning £300 glow-up with the help of some budget buys and items she already had lying around the house.

She explained: "I removed the red plastic coating from my cupboards and drawers and bought some paint from B&Q called v-33 cupboard and cabinet paint 2 ltrs in loft grey satin finish for £36.

"I painted the cupboards with two coats and still have some left.  The paint was really easy to use."

But her most shocking tip was:

"I used a hair dryer on some of my cupboards as I knew that if I heated the coating it would soften the glue and come off easily and it did leaving no residue."

The works by holding a hair dryer on it's highest setting a foot away from the surface and heating the area until the adhesive melts down and frees the coating off.
