The Queen sits kids in a different room at her pre-Christmas lunch reveals Mike Tindall – but he sat with Prince Charles
MIKE Tindall revealed the Queen sits the children in a separate room at her annual pre-Christmas lunch.
The royals descended onto Buckingham Palace last week for the monarch’s traditional festive feast, which she threw before she headed off to Sandringham for the big day.
Mike Tindall, who is married to the Queen’s granddaughter, Zara Tindall, went along with their children, Mia, five, and Lena, one.
Senior royals including Prince Charles, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, Prince William, Kate Middleton and their children were all among guests.
Prince Andrew also attended the family bash, as did Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie.
The former England rugby player, 41, shared an insight into the family affair, revealing there were about 70 people at the lunch.
Speaking with fellow rugby stars James Haskell and host Alex Payne, on podcast , Mike revealed there were no Christmas crackers on the table.
He said: “This is the other one, the family lunch, there must be about 70 of us there – there are seven tables and then the kiddies have their own little one in a different room.”
Mike said there are around seven tables – and this year he was sat with Prince Charles.
He said: “I was on Prince Charles table. It was lovely, really good.”
Asked whether the 71-year-old serves any produce from his Duchy of Cornwall range, Mike revaled it’s not on the menu.
But he added: “I always think it would be a great sponsorship for Zara, but it's not coming off.”
And while there may have been fine wine flowing, the dad-of-two said he wasn’t drinking that day.
The royals throw an infamous secret Santa every year, with the theme ‘cheap and cheerful’, with previous presents including a shower cap for the Queen, and a white leather loo seat for Prince Charles.
But Mike confirmed they didn’t exchange their joke gifts at the lunch, adding it’s “not on that day.”
It was recently revealed the Queen ‘burst out laughing’ after receiving Meghan Markle’s novelty present last year.
The Duchess of Sussex is said to have bought the monarch a singing hamster, adding it can ‘keep her dogs company’.
