Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were REFUSED a table at swanky Canadian restaurant because their tight security needs

MEGHAN Markle and Prince Harry have reportedly been refused a table at a posh Canadian restaurant as a result of their security demands.

According to Page Six, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex wanted to eat out at the swanky waterfront restaurant Deep Cove Chalet in the popular Horth Hill area of British Colombia.

The couple are currently spending their first Christmas with baby Archie on Vancouver Island with Meghan's mother Doria Ragland rather than at The Queen's Sandringham estate with the Royal Family.

During their stay, Meghan and Harry have been spotted jogging in North Saanich by locals and were most recently seen hiking in Horth Hill Regional Park - near to the exclusive French restaurant Deep Cove Chalet.

Although the couple reportedly wanted to eat at the exclusive restaurant, the owner says she refused to give them a table as a result of their security demands - but didn't disclose exactly what those were.

Bev Koffel told the US publication that she met with the couple's security team last week but her husband Pierre - who is the head chef and co-owner - ultimately turned down their reservation because their open-plan restaurant weren't compatible with the couple's security needs.

: "Horth Hill's become a very popular place now. And they jog around, so they've been seen.

"It's kind of exciting. I hope everything goes fine for them. They're breaking away from tradition and I just wish them all the best."

Earlier this week, The Sun exclusively revealed that baby Archie celebrated his first Christmas in an exclusive corner of Vancouver Island - 5,000 miles away from the rest of the Royal Family.

In August, Prince Harry defended the couple's controversial use of private jets and insisted that he only uses them to keep his family "safe".

This summer it was revealed that "eco-warriors" Prince Harry and Meghan Markle took four private jets in 11 days as they jetted out to Elton Jojn's £15m home in France with Archie in tow.

Unlike Prince William and Kate Middleton, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex also took great measures for Archie's christening to remain a private affair and have never confirmed the identities of his godparents.

In July, royal fans at Wimbledon were banned from taking photos of Meghan by a royal protection officer while the Duchess watched her close friend Serena Williams play.
