Bride in tears when groom plans Christmas wedding with bridesmaids as elves & vows in a SNOWGLOBE on Don’t Tell the Bride
A BRIDE was left in tears and shock when she realised she was having a Christmas-themed wedding with her bridesmaid dressed as elves on Don’t tell the Bride tonight.
Groom Liam, 23, was determined to give fiance Georgia, 22, a festive wedding bash she would never forget – including plans for them to say their vows in a snowglobe.
He decided the camp theme was ideal for their big day after Georgia’s mum ruined his Christmas proposal the previous year by buying her a car and stealing her thunder.
Ambitious Liam said on the E4 show: “I’m going to do the ultimate Christmas.
“I want to create my own Winter Wonderland where there is snow everywhere.”
When describing his wedding plans to pal Danny, the surprised groomsman said: “That’s brave that.”
And it certainly was a brave venture, as Liam went full steam ahead to recreate Lapland in the Yorkshire town of Beverley.
He was tasked with planning the whole wedding in just three weeks with no contact with Georgia and sticking to a budget of £12,000.
While Georgia was keen for a sun-soaked beach wedding in Portugal, Liam was keen to make everything snowy.
This included finding a large blow-up igloo to host the wedding reception and trying to find fake snow to cover the venue.
Liam exclaimed: “This’ll be the Christmas to be remembered.” And he definitely was nor wrong.
It wasn’t all dashing through the snow for the hapless groom, who found the £4,000 country home he had his eye on was slightly out of his budget.
He also didn’t have enough for the £10,000 fee he was quoted for getting fake snow, and things started to look a bit frosty.
Liam said: “We are borderline screwed if we don’t get a venue sorted. I will go into a state of panic.”
Thankfully, after a browse on Airbnb, he managed to find a house he could rent for £550, which had space for his giant £3,000 igloo reception.
He covered the garden in white carpeting to resemble snow, and added fake christmas trees, penguins, polar bears and lanterns for the full effect.
The highlight of the decor was a £995 snowglobe at the end of aisle where he would say his vows – despite not realising it was entirely soundproof and none of the guests could hear what was said.
Unsuspecting Liam raved: “This is going to be the best Christmas wedding ever.”
Things became icy when it came to Georgia trying on her wedding dress, however.
She had hoped for a lacy gown that would fit her perfectly, and she broke down in tears when she saw the huge gown he had chosen came complete with a red ribbon and furry bolero shrug.
Georgia sobbed: “It’s massive. I’m p***ed off with the whole situation.”
And the replacement dress wasn’t much better, with Georgia describing it as looking “like I’m about to slay some dalmations. I look ridiculous.”
The bridesmaids, including her mum, were unimpressed when they saw they would be dressed as elves for the big day, with her daughter donning a reindeer outfit.
Her mum said: “The one thing I said to him was to not make me look ridiculous.”
Liam, full of stress for the big day, had little sympathy and fumed: “I couldn’t care, it’s so ungrateful of what we’ve done. I’m sick of it.”
After a hen do at a local outdoor pursuits centre in the rain, and a wedding invite written on a bandana, things went from bad to worse for Georgia.
“Invite was crap, hen do was crap, wedding will probably be crap,” she said.
On the day, she perked up when she saw she would travel to the event in a horse-drawn sleigh, and thankfully laughed when she saw the house decked out in its Christmas decs.
Meanwhile, Sharon said: “I never thought my daughter would get married in a snowglobe.”
At the end of the event, Georgia seemed impressed and said: “I thought the wedding was amazing. There’s a lot of detail that’s gone into this.”
Liam beamed: “I’m so happy I’ve got Mrs Claus” to which she replied: “There may have been a sleigh but I’m the one with the reigns.”
