Meghan Markle’s friend told to remove ‘damaging’ photos of the duchess she was using to flog her jewellery
MEGHAN Markle's jewellery designer pal has been ordered by Buckingham Palace to remove photos of the Duchess of Sussex wearing her pieces to promote her business.
According to , California-based designer Jennifer Meyer, 42, allegedly breached a non-disclosure agreement by posting pictures of Meghan Markle wearing her jewellery.
What's more, Jennifer also reportedly boasted that she "can't get enough" of Meghan Markle wearing her pricey necklaces, rings and earrings and the two became friends when the Duchess was still starring in legal drama Suits.
A royal source told the Mirror: "Jennifer Meyer has been told to remove the images and in no uncertain terms how damaging this could be for Meghan and the Royal Family."
The Duchess of Sussex has worn several of Jennifer's designs during royal events over the past year - including Archie's introduction to the world, the family's meeting with Archbishop Desmond Tutu in South Africa and when she cheered Serena Williams on at the US Open.
The official Instagram account for Jennifer Meyer Jewellery - which boasts over 438,000 followers - then shared images of the Duchess wearing her designs immediately afterwards and links to where customers could shop the pieces online.
In February, the Duchess was spotted wearing the designer's £650 "mummy" necklace as she headed home from her New York baby shower.
Plugging the royal connection on Instagram, the brand shared an image of the Duchess with the caption: "Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex and 'mummy'-to-be, wearing our JM Mummy necklace as she leaves her baby shower in New York."
And when the Duchess wore her £650 "mummy" necklace to a climate change speech in Birmingham the following month, the brand also used it as another opportunity to flog the expensive piece to their followers.
In May, the brand's Instagram account shared a photo of the Duchess from her first royal photocall as a new mum when she wore one of their £570 necklaces.
The caption read: "Happy Mother's Day to the Duchess of Sussex! Meghan is wearing our 3 Turquoise Mini Bezel Dangle Necklace."
In total, Meghan has been photographed wearing the Hollywood designer's jewellery - which is also a hit with A-listers Jennifer Aniston and Scarlet Johansson - at least 10 times in the past year.
Up until yesterday, the designer also had a whole section of her website where shoppers could browse the pieces Meghan has worn - but this has now been deleted.
Other stars who still have a shoppable section on Jennifer's website include Reese Witherspoon, Hailey Bieber, Taylor Swift and Amanda Seyfried.
Commenting on the issue, editor-in-chief of Majesty Magazine Ingrid Seward said: "Meghan has again blurred the line between celebrity and royalty."
