Shoppers are accusing ASOS of ‘putting prices up and faking’ Black Friday discounts

ALL weekend, shoppers have been heading online to bag a bargain deal in the Black Friday sales.

But disgruntled fashion fans have taken to Twitter to accuse online retailer ASOS of inflating its prices ahead of the sales to "make discounts look better".

Under the hashtag "#asosblackfriday" shoppers took to Twitter to share screenshots of the confusing prices.

One person wrote: "@ASOS what y'all are doing is cheeky increasing the actual price and making it seem like we’re getting a bargain when where paying the actual price. OUT OF POCKET."

Another agreed, tweeting: "Why are you putting prices up to make discounts look better - full price yesterday! Discount today ."

The user posted two images alongside the tweet - one of a pair of boots priced at £36 the day before and another of what's believed to be the same shoes priced at £33.50 in the sale, but with an "original price" of £45.

Another agreed, writing: "I know all retailers do it but the second picture was the price a week ago... they've put the price up £12, shameful!"

The user shared an image of the same pair of trainers, one with a price of £75 reduced from £110 and another at £63 reduced from £110.

Others shared images of products which appeared to be reduced, but didn't offer any discount at all.

One Twitter user said: #ASOSBlackFriday Absolute bargain.
RRP £30. YOU PAY ....£30 #WTF."

One person responded: "They obviously forgot to bump up the "original" price like they have done on other items."

It's worth noting the discrepancies in price could be a technical glitch on the website.

ASOS told : "Our black Friday deals launched today with up to 70% off everything.

"Prices are not increased before promotions go live."
