Mum blogger Clemmie Hooper’s husband Simon refuses to ‘defend’ her ‘bad choices’ after she admits trolling him and pals
THE HUSBAND of mummy blogger Clemmie Hooper has broken his silence after his wife admitted to trolling him and friends online.
Simon Hooper, 35, revealed in an Instagram post that he refuses to "defend" her "bad choices" which have left him "angry and sad".
Earlier this week, Clemmie, who runs the Mother of Daughters account, was unmasked as the person behind a fake profile on Tattle Life gossip site writing cruel comments about those close to her - including calling her husband a "class A t***".
After the midwife, 35, was bombarded with thousands of comments labelling her a "bully", her other half - who has his own successful account Father of Daughters, documenting family life with their four young girls - shared a response for the first time this evening with his 1m followers.
"Frankly, I'm in a crap position as I only really have 2 options," he captioned a photo of his dog walking in the woods.
"1). to stay silent to protect my wife and knowing that if I do, the silence will be deafening or 2). to comment on something I had no knowledge of.
"It's not a fun place to be. And yet fun is what I [came] to Instagram for.
"I don’t take myself or life too seriously, but when something like this happens I have to acknowledge it and in all honesty, I'm feeling both angry and a bit sad.
"I can't condone or fully understand why Clemmie did what she did.
"Make no mistake about it - she made some bad choices - I just wish she could have spoken to me about this before it all got too much.
"Actually, If we're wishing for things, I wish it had never happened in the first place.
Simon continued: "I’ve seen first hand what three years of being attacked online can do to a person and the dark places it can drive you to – I guess whereas I can happily ignore it all, she couldn’t.
"To be clear, I’m not here to defend my wife’s actions or provide excuses because I have none.
"What I do know is that online actions have real world consequences - this has impacted our family and it will take some time to recover.
"That said, away from these squares, the world keeps spinning, the leaves are turning and I have four girls that need their parents. I'll be here tomorrow doing what I do."
Within two hours, the his post had received 20k 'likes' and over 1,100 comments.
In a message of support, one person wrote: "Everyone makes mistakes."
Another commented: "It’s you and your kids I feel for.
"Sorry what Clemmie did is simply unacceptable, bullies have no place in this world."
A third shared: "Sincerely hope this is a true reflection of your position, and you weren't in it together."
And a fourth added: "Hope you guys figure things out soon."
It comes after the mum-of-four - who has dropped to 670k followers - said she joined Tattle Life to defend herself from negative comments which soon escalated into insulting her fellow bloggers.
Writing as AliceinWanderlust, she described her husband Simon as a "class A t***" in an attempt to throw other users off the scent.
Clemmie admitted her actions after fellow mummy blogger Laura Rutherford, who had been targeted by her, addressed the "betrayal of trust" online - without revealing who was behind it.
The midwife and influencer is believed to have been exposed after Tattle Life users spotted that she and her alias were both in St Lucia.
