Meghan Markle and Prince Harry ‘house-hunting in California’ – and it could be one of three bases for them around world
THEY have only just completed renovations on their Windsor home of Frogmore Cottage - but Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are already eyeing up a second pad in the United States.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex - who are understood to be poised to take a six-week break from royal duties in Los Angeles - are reported to be "house-hunting" in California.
According to television producer Nick Bullen, in new documentary called 'Meghan for President?', the couple could create three global bases, which as well as the UK and the US may include a pad in Africa.
"I hear from people who know them well that they are house-hunting in California and they’re coming over for Thanksgiving," he said.
"Meghan’s really keen that Archie grows up understanding his American roots.
"Her American heritage is incredibly important to her, so I can see a world in which they probably have three bases — the base in the UK for their royal duties, a base in the states for their global work, and then also possibly somewhere in Africa because Africa is incredibly important to both of them."
Earlier this year, Meghan, 38, and Harry, 35, completed a refurbishment, which cost taxpayers £2.4m, of their main home Frogmore Cottage.
The nursery featured gender-neutral grey paint, a ‘mood screen’ and top-of-the-range crib for six-month-old baby son Archie.
We exclusively revealed in May that the Duke and Duchess wanted a family home in Los Angeles - where the former Suits star grew up.
"Meghan definitely wants a place in Los Angeles — she loves the city, the lifestyle and climate," said friends of the ex-Hollywood actress.
"Ultimately, she is a California girl and can breathe easier there. Hollywood is in her DNA and I think it is where she has always wanted to keep a solid footing.
“Spending time there would also allow her some freedom and independence from both the Palace and the Press — and more control over her life and the people around her.
“She is a duchess in the UK, but could be a queen in LA.”
Meghan, Harry and Archie are due to spend Thanksgiving in the US with grandma Doria Ragland before returning to the UK for Christmas with the Queen.
