'BARRAGE OF ABUSE'

Horrified amputee says men troll her by claiming she’d be easy to rape ‘because she couldn’t do much with one leg’

When explained she couldn't "cross her legs" followers were confused, leading the 27-year-old to post a mirror selfie standing on crutches with one leg.

But shortly after posting the photograph, the woman from Melbourne was flooded with sick comments.

The shocking tweets were largely from men, with one disgusting tweet claiming it "would be less effort to rape her" while others speculated over how she engaged in certain sex positions.

Several men said she could "have their third leg" while one user took it upon themselves to rate other parts of Cherie's body out of 10.

One man even wrote: "What do you expect from men when you post something sexy or half naked" despite the woman being fully clothed in the image.

"I think I'm just disappointed that I couldn't make a lighthearted joke without it turning into a barrage of men commenting whether or not they'd have sex with me," Cherie told the .

"That some think it's a compliment that they would still be interested in me even though I'm disabled, as though that should be some kind of deal-breaker.

"And that I would even get comments saying how it would be easy to rape me because of my disability."

Cherie had her leg amputated at the age of six after being diagnosed with osteosarcoma - a rare type of bone cancer, most often found in teenagers and children.

While Cherie says she might have expected a few vile comments, she never imagined she'd be trolled by hundreds of men, explaining that many "were not hiding" behind faceless accounts.

Cherie is a disability and accessibility advocate, with her explaining: "I'm not here to inspire abled people, I'm here to help disabled people."
