DON'T Tell The Bride viewers were left horrified when the groom bought his fiancée a black dress for their wedding.
Those watching the Channel 4 show slammed Sam Dawson, 21, for planning a goth-themed big day for wife-to-be Ezra Coldclough - which also included her arriving in a hearse, tasking a wolf-like dog as the ring-bearer and having a drag queen marry them.
The couple - who have been dating for five years and live together in the town of Leek in Staffordshire - both had differing ideas of their dream nuptials from the start of the programme, which sees the groom given sole responsibility for planning their wedding.
Ezra, 20, said: "I'm not normally the princess-y type, but it's the one day that gives you the excuse to be a princess.
"I want a proper church and it would be nice to walk down a proper aisle. I want that type of wow moment
"Sam's going to have a lot to live up to as I know exactly what I want. I'll only regret letting him plan the wedding if he does a shocking job."
However, her future husband had a very different concept in mind.
Sam explained: "My plan for the wedding is a gothy theme in a forest with drag queens and a wolf.
"If you can get a wolf to bring the rings down the aisle, I think that would be really cool.
"Black seats, making the aisle black - set the scene that it's this gothy kind of thing.
"The big one is I want the wedding dress to be black as well."
As the bride was seen trying on an elaborate white wedding dress and visiting grand wedding venues, Sam spent three weeks using his £13,000 budget on creating a spooky day for them plus 150 guests.
With the help of friend - and best man - Will, he spent £4,000 on a marquee in a field for the reception, £800 on a wooded area where the service would take place, and £1,000 on decor to fit the terrifying theme.
However, it was Sam's choice of wedding dress for Ezra that shocked viewers the most.
He initially struggled to find the perfect black bridalwear during a shopping trip to Manchester, with Will telling him, "I think you've gone for nichest market in the world".
However, he settled on a slinky black number, and also spent £160 on two goth-style red dresses with black detailing for bridesmaids Amy and Lydia.
Speaking to the camera about his pal, Will admitted: "I don't think he's thinking about Ezra's taste at all. I think he's thinking 'this is what I want'".
The bride was given an insight into what her other half had in store for them when he sent her on a ghost hunt for her hen do while he went on a stag do to his local pub.
Her mum said: "If he goes along the same lines for the wedding, it will be a little worrying."
When her big day arrived, Ezra was horrified to unpack her black wedding dress at her grandmother's home, exclaiming: "It's literally the opposite [of what I dreamed]. Mine was big and white and this is black and straight."
Those watching at home took to Twitter to sympathise with the bride.
One person wrote: "Ezra is a brave and handsome woman going along with the black dress."
Another commented: "OMG I would actually dump this guy and never marry him."
A third shared: "A black wedding dress in the woods? No thank you."
And a fourth added: "The wedding dress Sam's chosen, looks just a tad like Morticia Addams."
Ezra's family were equally shocked, with her mum likening the frock to "something from a horror film".
Her dad said: "I'm just a bit shocked...I wasn't expecting black. You still look gorgeous."
Fortunately, Ezra - who arrived in a hearse - came round to the idea of the theme for the marquee-based service and reception, with heavy rain causing the former part of the day in the woods to be called off.
