Man makes ‘disgusting’ engagement ring from a year of fingernail CLIPPINGS – and people are wondering who would say yes
A MAN has made an engagement ring from a year’s worth of fingernail clippings.
The budding groom, who remain anonymous, left people wondering who would say yes to his proposal after the “disgusting” idea.
In a video titled ‘Engagement ring made from human nails’, the Japanese user ‘Kiwami Japan’ demonstrated the process of creating the unique piece of jewellery.
He explained that he had saved up his finger nail clippings for 12 months, which he then blended and ground into a fine powder.
This was in turn mixed with water in a pan, before being compressed with any excess liquid squeezed out again.
The powder was next compressed inside a bolt, placed in the oven for 90 minutes, and the subsequent clay-like substance squeezed into a diamond mould.
The video, which culminated with the dull black jewel being added to a band, left people reeling in horror when it was subsequently shared on .
“Need a low-budget engagement ring? This man in Japan saved his fingernail clippings for a year – all to make a ‘diamond'” wrote The South China Morning Post when they shared a clip.
Their post, which has been viewed more than 200,000 times, has also received more than 170 shares and over 280 comments.
One person wrote: “When he is tightening the bolt and the finger nail juice squirted out, I started to retch.”
Another commented: “I hope he cleaned out the grinder before reusing it for his coffee beans”
A third shared: “He’s using kitchen implements for several stages of this.
“It makes me want to throw up. I would never accept a dinner invitation from this man.”
Meanwhile a fourth added: “Humanity was a mistake.”
Another squirmed: “That’s just flat out gross.”
And a sixth person commented: “I believe I’m not the only one feeling disgusting.”
