Woman, 27, creates incredible bathroom on a budget – using a £20 second-hand toilet and sink made from an old desk
A WOMAN has transformed her boring spare bedroom into a spacious Instagram-worthy bathroom on a budget.
Madeleine Abbott, 27, used items including a £20 second-hand toilet and a sink made from an old school desk to create the stunning space.
The vlogger - who has more than 59.1k followers on - bought the four-bedroom period property, originally built in the 1640s, in a Cornish village with her boyfriend Alex, 27, for £230,000.
They decided to turn one of the smaller bedrooms into a large bathroom after taking inspiration from Pinterest.
Having paid the pros to carry out re-plumbing and add geometric tiling, they decided to keep costs down as much as possible by being creative with the finishing touches.
This included turning an old school desk, bought for £52, into the foundations of a sink, sourcing a second-hand toilet for £20, and making a shelf out of re-claimed wood costing £15.99.
Madeleine trawled Gumtree, eBay and Facebook Marketplace to find the perfect items to decorate the chic bathroom which she wanted to give a "cottage-y yet modern aesthetic".
"I want all of our renovations to be as sustainable as possible, so finding bathroom fixtures and fittings secondhand was a great budget and eco-friendly start," she told .
"I looked on places like Gumtree, eBay and my favourite, Facebook Marketplace for items every day.
"It was fun and also rewarding to find most of the parts needed for a fraction of the price and to put them to good use rather than ending up down the dump."
