AS we’re sure all parents will agree, when your little one is having a bad bout of nightmares – it inevitably plays havoc on your sleeping patterns too.
Well if your children are struggling to sleep at bedtime, then allow us to introduce you to the “Anti-Nightmare Mist” – a nifty new invention which fills your kid’s room with the soothing scent of lavender while also fighting monsters.
- Anti-Nightmare Mist, £4.95 from Cuckooland –
Genius, right? Created by Cuckooland, this water-based mist contains essential oils to calm children down before bed.
In other words, just think of it as a children’s pillow spray which may be about to salvage your sleeping habits too.
Describing how essential oils help children sleep, child clinical psychologist Lucy Russell said: “Lavender is really relaxing for the senses, so this will help.
How to make your own Anti-Nightmare Mist at home:
- Find a spray bottle for your mist
- Mix two drops of essential oil for every 100ml of water – lavender and rose are particularly soothing
- Decorate the bottle with smiley faces and friendly ghosts to scare away monsters
- Spray around your child’s room – under the bed, in the wardrobe, and behind curtains and doors
“I would advise to start using this spray an hour before bed, to help stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system, and also to initiate the release of melatonin, the hormone that induces sleep.”
However, the £5 product has proven such a success that it’s currently sold out online – but the makers have provided a tutorial on on how to make the mist at home.
The website recommends mixing two drops of essential oil for every 100ml of water and decorating the bottle with friendly ghosts and bright smiley faces.
And to be honest, we might just give this a go for ourselves…
