HEIRY ROMANTIC

Inside the remote log cabin where Prince William proposed to Kate Middleton

NINE years ago, Prince William whisked Kate Middleton off for a romantic holiday in Kenya.

And it turned out to be an incredibly special trip, as Wills popped the question while they were staying in an off-grid, remote cabin along the shores of Lake Rutunda.

The log cabins are the ultimate romantic getaway, surrounded by forests, mountains and offering spectacular views.

They're also perfect for privacy, located in a remote area of Kenya and without any phone signal.

The cabins only have a radio, in which they can communicate with the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy, but apart from that they're completely off-grid.

Added to that, there's no electricity and water is heated by a burner outside.

Upon entering the quirky cabin, there's a cosy living and dining room, with a huge log fire and comfortable seating.

There's also a large, well-equipped kitchen and of course, a cosy double bedroom.

Attached is a smaller cabin, complete with another bedroom containing a double bed, two single beds and an en suite.

One of the main features of the log cabin is the outside veranda, perfect for soaking up the sun and taking in the incredible views - with guests revealing it's the ideal breakfast spot, too.

Guests warn it can get very cold at night, but there's plenty of blankets and "comfortable beds" to snuggle up in.

And Kate and Will are likely to have taken part in a selection of activities, too, with guests revealing the fishing especially is incredible, as well as hiking, bird watching and horse riding.

Many guests explained they were even able to cook the fish they had caught.

"There's also good trout fishing at the lake and each day we caught fish, which was then smoked or grilled by the amazing staff," one wrote.

"The staff do a wonderful job of making sure your needs are met and there are many activities to keep you busy.

"If you want to take a trip to get into nature and get away from the hustle and bustle of day-to-day life, I don't think there's anywhere better than Rutundu."

And Kate and Will even wrote in the cabin's guest book, with William explaining he "brought more warm clothes this time" while Kate gushed the cabin was "so romantic".

"Thank you for such a wonderful 24 hours!" Wrote Kate.

"Sadly no fish to be found by we had great fun trying.

"I love the warm fires and candle lights - so romantic! Hope to be back again soon."
