After dropping numerous hints about a “practical” and “wearable” ring, her husband finally bought her one.

He surprised her with the jewellery on Mother’s Day, but she was shocked when she saw the ring.

Instead of a practical ring she could wear out and about, her husband pulled out all the stops and gave her an “unwearable monstrosity.”

Sharing snaps of the giant jewel to Facebook group , she said: “I’ve been wanting an aquamarine right hand ring for a long time.

“I’m talking about something practical and wearable on a regular basis.”

She described her reaction when her husband finally presented her with what was meant to be the ring of her dreams.

She continued: “My dear, sweet husband, bless his soul, surprised me with this unwearable monstrosity for Mother’s Day.

“Twenty-six carats.

“I absolutely love it and absolutely hate it. It’s the thought that counts?

“I have no idea what to do with it.”

She explained that the ring wasn’t really suited to her frame and stature, claiming she has masculine hands.

She said: “These are man hands you are looking at. Ring size 9.

“He asked me why I don’t wear it. Well, no one has invited me to any balls lately.”

Her post has racked up dozens of comments on Facebook as people are in shock over the size of the ring.

One person said: “That’s a paperweight!”
