Best mates who say they’ll be together forever stage a fake wedding in front all their friends and family
BEST mates who have been inseparable since they met at nursery staged an adorable mock wedding in front of all their friends and family while dressed up as a bride and groom.
Aubrey Butterly, eight, and Frankie Miller, nine, roped in seven of their closest friends to act as bridesmaids and groomsmen, and they even cut a traditional wedding cake.
The pair unofficially tied the knot at a community college in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, with a professional photoshoot capturing the heart-warming day.
Aubrey and Frankie met three years ago at nursery and immediately hit off, with the pair soon becoming boyfriend and girlfriend.
Frankie’s mum, Nicole, 38, said: “After they met, Frankie came home and told us all about Aubrey.
“He always referred to her as his best friend in the whole world.
“One day, Frankie started referring to Aubrey as his girlfriend.
“He was so matter of fact about it, it was incredibly sweet.”
Nicole, a mum-of-two, said she’s not sure if the pair will tie the knot for real, but they had great fun at their pretend wedding.
She added: “I don’t know if they’ll end up getting married when they’re older, but for now we just want them to have fun and experience all the amazing adventures life will bring.
“That’s exactly what this shoot was about – making precious memories.”
So far Frankie is taking their relationship seriously, buying Aubrey a toy unicorn and two roses for their first Valentine’s Day.
He bought one real rose and one fake one, and when quizzed about it, he explained it was because the real flower would soon die, but the fake one would last forever.
The idea for the wedding photoshoot came about after Frankie had professional photos taken for his Holy Communion by snapper Dana Smith.
He asked her if she could one day take photos of his and Aubrey’s wedding, but Dana and Nicole decided to stage the fake wedding so the youngsters could get to enjoy it now.
Dana said: “I thought the relationship between Frankie and Aubrey was adorable.
"I really wanted to show the innocence between them and thought this was the perfect way."
Their big day started off like any should – with pizza – before the kids posed for photos and eagerly awaited the cutting on the cake.
Aubrey’s mum, a registered nurse and mum-of-two, said: “We just wanted the children to have fun and while some of the snaps were staged, most were just taken while they played together.
“They absolutely loved spending the day playing dress up.”
Nicola added: “They had so much fun on the day.
“The entire photoshoot was full of laughter.
“They had pictures taken with the cake but kept asking whether they could eat it yet.
“We couldn’t keep them from digging in.”
