A SINGLE mum was overjoyed after she returned from holiday to find her parents had transformed her dingy flat – all for £50.

Amy Townsend, 25, jetted off to Benidorm in 2020 with two-year-old son, Olly, and left her mum and dad in charge of her house while she was away.

But Amy, from Walsall, had little idea her folks would be doing more than watering her plants, after she returned to find they’d completely updated her drab living room.

She said in a social media post: “When I saw my living room had been transformed, I was overwhelmed with joy.

“It was a total surprise.”

Sharing snaps of her flat before the makeover on , the walls are bare plaster and the room is dark and gloomy.

Her parents worked hard over one weekend, with her dad – who works full-time – picking up supplies from Home Bargains for just £50.

They wallpapered her home with a chic chequered print, costing £5 a roll, going for a yellow colour scheme.

They painted the fireplace, put up some curtains and added cosy furnishings and accessories to make it look homely.

Amy added: “While I was away, my mum and dad wallpapered and painted for me!

“It's made me a lot happier knowing they haven't spent lots as I look for free things and I shop in charity shops for bits and bobs to add.

“I don't have a lot seeing as I live alone with my two-year-old so charity shops have to do!", the reported.
