Bride-to-be slammed for asking her bridesmaid to ‘cover all of her tattoos with make-up’ for the wedding
A BRIDE-TO-BE has been slammed for asking her bridesmaid to conceal all her tattoos with make-up for her wedding.
The woman asked her friend to be part of her bridal party - only to drop the "rude" bombshell about her inkings.
In a post on , the upset pal explained how the bride recently brought up the subject of covering tattoos on their bodies for her big day for "uniformity's sake and because her mum doesn't like them".
The bridesmaid wrote that she asked "if I'd be willing to cover them with make-up.
"I told her I'd do it only if she 100 per cent wants me to."
She continued: "I told her that 1. One of my tattoos I'm NOT okay with covering as it covers a pretty visible scar on one of my arms.
Something about this just seems invasive. Like I understand that it's her wedding day and that uniformity is important, but at the same time we're all different people with different bodies.

"2. Since I have a lot of tattoos, I would need a lot of make up to cover them.
"I did, however, tell her that since it's her wedding if she really and truly did not want me to have visible tattoos I would cover them.

"She wouldn't ask me to dye my hair, so why tell me to cover my tattoos?"
Her fellow Reddit members sympathised with her situation.
One person wrote: "I think it is not very considerate of her to ask you to cover them.
"I understand her mum does not like them (I have my fair share of people in my family that do not like mine) and that it is her wedding but she asked you to be a bridesmaid.
"She should not have asked if she was not okay with your tattoos.
"For one she is asking you to cover up something that it part of what makes you who you are and for two covering a lot of tattoos or large tattoos can get quite expensive."
How much does the average UK wedding cost?
- The average cost of getting married in the UK now costs £30,355, according to Bridebook.co.uk's National Wedding Survey 2018.
- This figure is up from £26,989 the previous year - an increase of 12 per cent.
- Its the venue hire that is most couples' largest expense, with the honeymoon close behind.
- Brides will, on average, shell out £1,385 on their wedding dress.
Another commented: "So unrelated to the completely rude request, there's another concern.
"No matter how transfer-proof your cover-up make-up is, there is always a chance that it will rub off on her dress, your walking partners suit, or literally anything else. Why would she want to risk that part?"
A third shared: "This is so rude of her and a weak excuse to blame it on her mum.
"I am very anti-confrontational and saying something to my friend if she asked me to cover up my tattoos would be hard.
"I would probably wait until the subject comes up again and then just say 'sorry I thought about it but putting the make up on would take me a really long time and I don't think I'd really feel like myself and I wouldn't feel comfortable being covered up.'"
