The Queen gets her own designated loo on royal tours that no one else is allowed to use – and VERY posh toilet paper

PLANNING a trip for the royal family can be stressed for staff, particularly as aides have to make sure the Queen has her own special toilet to use.

The measure ensures that only Her Majesty, 93, uses a particular loo if nature calls, and any old toilet paper won’t do.

Political Editor Gordon Rayner, who went on several royal tours with the monarch, wrote about the strict bathroom regime that takes place.

He wrote in the : “Royal tours can seem faintly ridiculous affairs, partly because of host countries’ awed reactions to their VVIP guests (sensible senior officials tie themselves in knots over the toilet arrangements for royal visits) and partly because of the Royal family’s travelling habits.

“For loo breaks a retiring room is designated for the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh everywhere they will visit, which may also be used as a panic room in case of an attack.”

He advised that Queen’s staff has a special measure to show her that only she has used the toilet roll provided.

Gordon said: “Sanitary ware is marked or sealed with stickers to warn others that they are reserved, as I have noted myself when blundering into the wrong gents’ (and being faced with a choice of breaking protocol or crossing my legs).”

He said that a former aide told him: “Hosts spend more time worrying about the loo arrangements than anything else, down to what colour the towels should be and whether the loo roll is a suitable brand.”

She also arranges the right toiletries and drinks to be in the room.

But what toilet paper does the Queen like to use? It’s likely to be Andrex.

Their website states: “The Queen granted us a Royal Warrant in 1978 as a mark of recognition that Andrex® is a regular supplier of toilet tissue to the Royal households.”

It then jokes: “Good choice Ma’am.”
