Kate Middleton and Prince William are getting new neighbours at Kensington Palace – and it could be Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank
KATE MIDDLETON and Prince William will soon be rolling out the welcome wagon when their new neighbours move in next door.
Last week removal vans were spotted at Kensington Palace as the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester prepare to vacate Apartment 1 in Kensington Palace in order to downsize.
Talks of the senior royals’ move have been in the midst for several months but it looks as though they are finally packing up to settle in to the Old Stables, also on the estate.
The Queen’s cousin Prince Richard and his wife Birgitte were formerly the closest neighbours to the Cambridges who live at Apartment 1A.
The parents-of-three spent months renovating Apartment 1A at Kensington Palace before moving in - knocking through walls to bring the room count down from 30 to 20.
It was previously rumoured that Harry and Meghan would be relocating to Apartment 1 but after their move to Frogmore Cottage in Windsor in April the spot remains open.
With 21 rooms as well as adjoining doors to the Cambridges apartment, Apartment 1 would make the ideal home for a couple looking starting a family.
Newlyweds Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank, who tied the knot a year ago and currently live at Ivy Cottage on the estate, are among the favourites to take the property.
But after royal sources claimed that Princess Beatrice is “ready to start a family right away” with her new fiancé Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi – they may also be in the running.
Beatrice and her husband-to-be currently live at St James’ Palace.
Fabulous Digital has contacted Buckingham Palace for a comment.
The Gloucesters have lived in the sprawling apartment for years and according to reports were “reluctant to give it up.”
The couple have three children together Alexander Windsor, Earl of Ulster, Lady Davina Windsor and Lady Rose Gilman but having all grown-up and flown the nest, downsizing was an obvious option.
According to the refurbishment of the Gloucesters new home of the Old Stables new home cost £400,000.
Kensington Palace was originally a two-storey mansion built by Sir George Coppin in 1605 in what was then the village of Kensington.
Then in 1698 King William and Queen Mary asked Christopher Wren, the architect of St Paul's Cathedral, to turn Nottingham House into a palace.
This massive extension is largely what you see now.
