CHOC HORROR

The Queen is ‘a chocoholic’ claims former royal chef – but it has to be dark as she’s ‘not a fan of milk or white’

WE all have our weaknesses when it comes to naughty food and the Queen is apparently no different, with a royal insider claiming Her Maj is "a chocoholic".

According to the Queen's former chef Darren McGrady, the 93-year-old monarch can't resist a chocolate treat.

Speaking to he said: "She is absolutely a chocoholic. Anything we put on the menu that had chocolate on, she would choose, especially chocolate perfection pie.”

But, the Queen won't entertain any old chocolate - in fact, it has to be dark.

"She likes chocolate, but only dark chocolate, the darker the better," he added.

“She’s not a big fan of milk or white chocolate.”

Apparently, the Queen's top choice is Bendicks Bittermints - dark chocolate treats filled with mint, which were also given a Royal Warrant in 1962.

They are said to be Her Majesty's top choice "for snacking".

While it's no surprise that the Queen is partial to a little chocolate, Her Maj's former pilot has claimed that the Queen would enjoy a tinned Fray Bentos pie on long-haul flights in the 90s.

Appearing on a Channel 5 documentary, Graham Laurie said: "Do you know, they used to love it.

"I think it's such a lovely change from all that fancy food which comes first class!"

While the pilot didn't reveal exactly what flavour The Queen preferred, the iconic British brand is famous for its Steak and Kidney, Minced Beef and Onion and Chicken and Bacon pies.

And it's not the only treat the monarch enjoys - in fact, according to one royal insider, the Queen is known to enjoy the occasional takeaway, too.

A source told Fabulous Digital: “She very occasionally treats herself to fish and chips when at Balmoral.

“A footman is dispatched to get it from the local town of Ballater.”

However, it's not all takeaways and chocolate, with Darren explaining to the that the Queen simply eats to live rather than living to eat.

Apparently, the Queen would often ask for grilled or poached fish accompanied by vegetables or salad.

"That's it. That's all she has," he said.

“She's very disciplined like that.

“She could have anything she wanted, but it is that discipline that keeps her so well and so healthy.”
