Princess Beatrice’s wedding dress is likely to be Roksanda or Mary Katrantzou, fashion experts claim
SHE ONLY revealed her engagement yesterday, but predictions are already being made about Princess Beatrice’s choice of wedding dress.
The daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah, Duchess of York announced that she will walk down the aisle with multi-millionaire property tycoon Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi next year – and fashion experts are predicting she’ll be wearing Roksanda or Mary Katrantzou.
While the exact date and location of Beatrice, 31, and Edoardo, 36, is still to be made public, style insiders have already begun trying to second-guess who will be chosen to make the all-important wedding dress.
The Queen’s granddaughter is a well-known fan of fashion – and is often seen in the likes of Erdem, Alberta Ferretti, Self-Portrait, Valentino, Mary Katrantzou and Roksanda.
It is the latter two designers who Amy de Klerk, digital fashion editor at , believes could be in the running.
“It is quite likely that Beatrice will choose either a British designer or a British brand for her big day, meaning that both Mary Katrantzou and Roksanda could be key contenders,” she writes.
While Roksanda has regularly designed wedding dresses over the years, Mary Katrantzou designed her first in 2014 for financier friend Carolina Gonzalez Bunster.
De Klerk also predicts the dress will be “white, sleeved and not too risqué – and she will also probably wear a tiara”.
Roksanda has also been put forward as a likely contender by the .
They have also suggested Ralph & Russo, Erdem, Emilia Wickstead, The Vampire’s Wife, Claire Mischevani, Alberta Ferretti and Gucci.
“In recent years, she’s sharpened her aesthetic, moving away from the questionable novelty fascinators of her early twenties towards cool young British designers and even appearing in Vogue,” notes senior fashion editor Charlie Gowans-Eglinton.
It is thought it will be unlikely Beatrice that will choose a designer already picked by brides at recent royal weddings.
This includes Alexander McQueen, worn by Kate Middleton at her 2011 nuptials to Prince William.
Meghan Markle chose Clare Waight Keller at Givenchy when she married Prince Harry last year, while Beatrice’s sister Princess Eugenie opted for Peter Pilotto that autumn to wed Jack Brooksbank.
Earlier this year, Lady Gabriella Windsor – who’s wedding the bride-to-be attended with then-boyfriend Edoardo – walked down the aisle in Luisa Beccaria.
Yesterday, Beatrice and Edoardo announced they are to wed in 2020 after a whirlwind 11-month romance after meeting at Eugenie’s wedding.
It was revealed he had popped the question in Italy earlier this month.
The couple beamed in pictures taken by her sister to mark the happy occasion.
Beatrice wore a £595 floral dress by Zimmerman, and also showed off her engagement ring designed by Edoardo with British jeweller Shaun Leane.
