In a post on Instagram, ex-President Barack Obama's wife - who appeared in Meghan's recent Vogue issue - shared an image of the new royal mum as she posed with fellow guests at a reception at the residence of the British High Commissioner in Cape Town in South Africa.

Michelle captioned the photo: "Thank you to my friend, Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Sussex, a thoughtful leader who is breaking the mold and making our world better for it.

"Whether meeting with our leaders or helping girls around the world seek the education they deserve, she is an inspiration to so many."

Writing in the September issue of Vogue, which she guest-edited, Prince Harry's wife said she bonded with the mum-of-two over chicken tacos.

Michelle was revealed to have told four-month-old baby Archie's mum to "savour" motherhood.

Shortly after he was born in May, she wrote on Twitter that she and Barack couldn't "wait to meet him".

Her comments this week come as Meghan and Harry enter the fifth day of their ten-day royal tour of Africa.

In his latest engagement, the Duke of Sussex, 35, kept mum Princess Diana's legacy alive as he helped detonate a landmine in Angola.

Earlier this week, the Duchess was praised for her speech during a visit to the township of Nyanga.

Meghan said: "While I'm here with my husband as a member of the royal family, I want you to know from me I am here with you as a mother, as a wife, as a woman, as a woman of colour and as your sister."

He was seen with his parents meeting Archbishop Desmond Tutu, before his dad departed for Botswana.

Yesterday, we told you how Meghan Markle has revealed she and Prince Harry have nicknamed baby Archie "Bubba" during Africa tour.

We also revealed how snaps of cheeky pageboy Prince George and a grumpy Prince Louis are among the snaps in the running for a royal photography competition.
