Mum-to-be rages after her sister steals her quirky baby name and gives it to her DOG
IF there's one thing the television series Sex and the City taught us, it's that you should NEVER share your dream baby name with a soul - even your own sister.
In the first season of the hit US series, Charlotte was left devastated when the show's ultimate frenemy used her top-secret baby name for her firstborn and then tried to pass it off as a coincidence.
Unfortunately, one woman has recently found herself in the same predicament - except that it's her sister who wants to use her baby name for her pet dog. Yes really.
Sharing her unusual dilemma on , the pregnant woman's sister explained why she was so hesitant to back down on the matter.
She wrote: "I've always had a strained relationship with my family and try not to speak with them because it always makes me upset.
"I'm not having kids so my baby names that I picked out (and vocalised many times) growing up are going to my dogs. Whenever I got a boy dog, I always wanted to name him Waylon."
Now that's she's adopted a dog of her own, the woman suspects that her sister stole her name choice - although the mum-to-be insists otherwise.
She continued: "I was finally able to get a dog and excitedly called my parents to tell them about him.
"That's when I found out my sister was pregnant again and naming her kid Waylon. With it being such an uncommon name and her not being a country music fan, I KNOW she got it from me."
Needless to say, the mum-to-be has been raging at her sister and demanding she pick a new name because "it's just a dog".
Asking if she was in the wrong, the woman concluded: "Am I the a***** for refusing to change his name because it's something important to me?"
I found out my sister was pregnant again and naming her kid Waylon. With it being such an uncommon name, I KNOW she got it from me...
Making light of the situation, one user replied: "Not the a*****. Make sure you create your dog a Facebook account so everyone can add him."
Meanwhile, another suggested that the family refer to the baby when he arrives as "human Waylon" to differentiate between the two.
A third replied: "The nephew will probably be delighted to have the same name as the dog. When I was a kid, I had a friend who was named after her parents' cat. She loved talking about Kitty-Samantha."
Insisting that she was in the wrong, another wrote: "It's clear your sister had chosen this name and your dog does not care what its name is.
"Your attachment to this name is not deep if it's from a country singer. Morally you are not obligated to do s*** but would it make you an a***** not to give up a name your sister has vocalised interest in? At least among your family, yes."
