My son is being bullied at school but the staff aren’t doing anything about it
DEAR DEIDRE: MY son is being bullied at school but the staff just see it as boys will be boys.
He is 11 and in year seven. His mum and I are 35 and we are very worried about him.
He is quiet and gentle, very bright but not good at sports.
Boys have tripped him up, yanked his rucksack off and taken his packed lunch.
Last week they hid his PE kit and laughed when he got into trouble for not having it.
I have spoken to his teachers and they just seem afraid of the bullies, who appear to have a hyena-pack type of control in the school.

DEIDRE SAYS: There is a non-bullying policy in every school. Give the head teacher a chance to put it right.
If they don’t, go first to the board of governors and, if need be, to your local education authority.
My e-leaflet Is Your Child Being Bullied? will help you deal with this.
Take your son to out-of-school activities which build on his strengths.
