SO FED UP

I’ve had enough of my jobless slob son – he treats our house like a hotel

We tried to give him the benefit of the doubt, but now there’s no denying that he’s a complete slob

DEAR DEIDRE: I’VE had enough of my messy, lazy son.

Whether he’s leaving a mountain of dishes and dirty clothes in his room, making a mess in the kitchen, or refusing to take out the bins, he takes advantage and treats our house like a hotel.

My son is 21 and I’m his 49-year-old father.

He’s been living at home since he finished college two years ago.

He initially said he was going to get a full-time job and start saving, but since the day he left, he’s done nothing but sit in his room and play video games.

At first we tried to give him the benefit of the doubt, but now there’s no denying that he’s a complete slob.

We’ve asked countless times, both nicely and sternly, if he could clean up after himself, but nothing ever changes.

We’re so fed up, we’ve had enough.

DEIDRE SAYS: Your son is an adult, and so he’s old enough to clean up after himself.

He’s being selfish and taking full advantage, so it’s time to talk to him and set some proper boundaries.

If he won’t listen, then tell him that he’s old enough to move out.

And if he doesn’t make a change, then he needs to find somewhere else to live.
