It’s been two years since we broke up but I can’t stop thinking about my ex
DEAR DEIDRE: EVEN though it's been two years since we broke up, I can’t stop thinking about my ex.
She was my first love - the girl I lost my virginity to - and I don’t think I’ll ever meet anyone like her again.
I’m a 19-year-old girl. She’s a year older, and we met when I was 15.
We were so happy at first, doing everything together. But over time, we started to argue.
She broke up with me when she went away to university, saying she didn’t want to be tied down to one person so young.
I was gutted but thought I was moving on. I even had a few short relationships.
But now I feel totally stuck. I can’t get her out of my head and realise I’ll always love her.
DEIDRE SAYS: The way you’re feeling isn’t unusual. First loves can be very hard to get over because your emotions are so intense.
Losing your first love is like a bereavement. Although you won’t forget your ex, you can find love and happiness again.
