THANK YOU

You helped me stop worrying about the age gap in my relationship

READ Dear Deidre Editor Sally Land's personal replies to today's problems.

WHEN I wrote to you, Deidre, I was worried about my relationship with a much younger woman.

I was self-conscious about our large age gap, which others might
disapprove of, and I wondered whether we would have too many differences in terms of experience and interests.

I’m a 48-year-old woman and my girlfriend is 23. She only recently came out as lesbian.

We met online. The attraction was instant, and sex was amazing.
But the fact I’m older than her mum concerned me. I wasn’t sure our
friends would accept us.

You reassured me that I wasn’t doing anything wrong, and said we shouldn’t worry too much what others thought.

But you cautioned that we might be at very different stages of our lives.

You also sent me your Age Gaps support pack.

I’m pleased to say that six months on, things are going brilliantly. I have met her mum and she accepted me.

My girlfriend is mature and doesn’t enjoy going clubbing like her friends.

We like the same hobbies and she is keeping me young.

We complement each other. Who knows what the future holds, but for now, the two of us are blissfully happy.

Thank you, Deidre.
