DEAR DEIDRE

My younger stud dropped me straight after sex – was he using me for a warped bet?

READ Dear Deidre Editor Sally Land's personal replies to today's problems.

DEAR DEIDRE: I WAS swept off my feet by a much younger man who couldn’t wait to get me into bed.

He sold me the world, and I chose to believe him, but now I think he wanted to try out having sex with with an older woman, or worse still, could he have been fulfilling some kind of warped bet - to sleep with someone old enough to be his mum?

Since I gave him what he wanted, he's dropped me like a hot potato, and I feel like such an old fool.

I’m a 52-year-old woman, and I’ve been single since my husband left me for another woman 11 years ago.

Feeling ready to date again, I joined a dating app. I had been swiping on the app casually when I received a super like from the most handsome man.

The only catch was that he was 20 years my junior. We got chatting, and the conversation flowed so easily.

Initially, I was apprehensive about meeting up, but after messaging for weeks, my feelings grew, and I finally decided it was time.

Our date was magical, and I really believed we had something special. So when he suggested we get a fancy hotel room, I agreed.

We shared an amazing night together, and it was such a big deal to me to be intimate again, and he knew that.

But then the next day his demeanour completely shifted. The once attentive and caring man had become distant and nonchalant.

Ever since he barely replies to messages and it’s clear to me that I’ve been used.

MORE FROM DEAR DEIDRE

DEIDRE SAYS: You put a lot of trust in this man, sharing how vulnerable you felt after your previous experience.

Try not to beat yourself up. Ultimately, his behaviour is more of a reflection of him than it is of you.

He clearly doesn’t have the emotional maturity or grace to explain himself and communicate.

He’s shown you early that he’s not the right person for you.

You have no evidence that you were part of a bet, that is your insecurity running through your mind.

While it’s easy to be swayed away from dating after negative experiences, try to remember that there will be someone out there who will treat you the way you deserve.
