I can’t control my temper and the smallest things set me off
DEAR DEIDRE: A BUTTON came off my shirt today and I wanted to punch something.
Yesterday my phone rang in the middle of my Xbox game which also made me lose it.
It takes so little to trigger rage or anxiety. I can sometimes even have a panic attack.
I’m a 24-year-old guy and I live with my parents. I feel as if I let myself down over the slightest problem.
I’ve failed my driving test four times and I’m desperate to pass. I get so cross with myself.
It would make such a difference to me because I’m in a job I hate. I work in a supermarket because it’s a short walk from my house but I want to get into IT work.

I studied computer science at university but I’m now stacking shelves.
I see myself as geeky, which is probably why I don’t have too many friends where I live. The only place I felt happy was with mates from my course.
Feeling disappointed with my whole life is really getting me down and I constantly need to vent my frustrations.
I don’t like it when things go wrong. I’ve got such a temper. I’ve always been that way.
MORE FROM DEAR DEIDRE
DEIDRE SAYS: Anger is often a cover for hurt, frustration and fear. The anxiety causes that fight or flight mode which can then lead to a panic attack if it becomes overwhelming.
It goes back to your childhood but recognising that you have a problem is a big step towards sorting it out.
Learning natural ways to relax can really help you as my support packs Help For Stress and Managing Anger explain.
You can find additional support on how to handle these difficult feelings through Anxiety UK (, Tel: 03444 775 774).
Some new friends will give you a more positive focus. Check out MeetUp (). They even have events on the website for computer geeks!
