My best friend has left me broken-hearted
DEAR DEIDRE: I thought my best friend and I shared an unbreakable bond – then she ghosted me.
I’m devastated. I treated her like a sister. We are both 19 and had been best mates since we were 11. We did everything together and told each other all our secrets.
Everything was normal until the new year, when she stopped replying to my messages. A mutual friend told me she’d started hanging out with a new group.
It hurts so much and I don’t know what I did wrong.

DEIDRE SAYS: Being ghosted is painful because you don’t get closure. Your loss is like a bereavement.
You could ask your mutual friend to request she send you a message explaining what happened.
But if she won’t, you’ll have to accept she’s reinvented herself.
