My girlfriend doesn’t like my choice of underwear
DEAR DEIDRE: I’m a guy who enjoys wearing thongs – men’s or women’s. I find them more comfy but my girlfriend thinks I’m weird.
I do a lot of running and, when I was getting changed one day, saw another man was wearing a thong and realised my underwear ruches up.
So I bought a thong online and the next time I went for a run, the problem was solved.
I’m fashion-conscious and I think they give me a better line in lycra shorts or work trousers, so now I wear them every day.
I’ve known my girlfriend for a couple of months and she saw my thong on the bathroom floor and was shocked.
She came out holding it, demanding, “Whose is this?” I told her it was mine but I’m not sure she believed me.

DEIDRE SAYS: No. It’s up to you what underwear you choose. Men’s thongs are becoming more popular.
They are more supportive than flimsy boxer shorts and, as you say, less likely to result in uncomfortable wedgies.
You are not harming anybody by wearing thongs and my guess is that you wouldn’t question your girlfriend’s choice of underwear or clothing.
