AT A LOSS

I’m worried my family is using my early-onset dementia against me

DEAR DEIDRE: I’M worried that my family is taking advantage and using my early-onset  dementia against me.

I’m a 67-year-old woman and I received my diagnosis six months ago.

My children have been telling anyone and everyone about my condition, against my will. They’ve started making out that I’m sicker than I am.

I hate to say it but I feel as if they’re being opportunistic.

Every time I’ve tried to ask them about money they owe me they keep insisting that they’ve paid me back and that I’ve simply forgotten.

I’ve tried to fight my corner but they keep gaslighting me and blaming my dementia.

This is really stressing me out.
