Beauty and brains hold me back
DEAR DEIDRE: I couldn't wait for a fresh start when I was offered a new job but I’m stuck in the same old rut.
I’m 24 and female and when I was at school and university, people saw me as beautiful but untouchable.
Despite everyone complimenting me on my looks, I’ve never had a relationship.
I worked hard and got my degree but never connected with others at uni.
I’d go out but I always felt on the periphery and the one going home alone.
Now I have got a new job for an insurance company in a new town.

DEIDRE SAYS: It’s sometimes difficult to find new friendships but by stepping out of your cocoon, you massively increase your chances.
Look to join in work social events.
People are attracted to confidence and those with passions and interests, so do try out new hobbies.
