I’ve fallen out of love with my girlfriend but I don’t want to break up with her
DEAR DEIDRE: Although I still care about my girlfriend, I think I’ve fallen out of love with her.
But I don’t want to break up as she’ll be gutted.
I’m 19 and she’s 18. We’ve been together for three years.
Lately, I’ve realised we are total opposites. She’s pushing me to go travelling with her, but I want to concentrate on my studies.
Our sex life has gone downhill too – it just feels like we go through the motions.
When I tried talking to her, she told me “opposites attract” and we are perfect together.

DEIDRE SAYS: Sadly, couples do grow apart, particularly when people get together as teenagers.
It sounds like you’ve recognised it’s time to walk away. She may be in denial.
Be honest with her, as gently as you can.
